Natural glowing makeup without looking like a disco ball

Natural glowing makeup without looking like a disco ball. Yes, guys! I am sorry but at the moment, especially since highlighting is a big trend on Instagram, everyday I see girls totally ruined by wrong or too strong highlighting and contouring. Believe me, real makeup artists do not do that kind of makeup, like drug queens. I mean, if you are a drug queen or have a specific show or a particular event it is totally fine but reality and everyday look are another thing! We can also speak about the sense of elegance but it could be a long and picky topic.
Which are the most important steps for a natural glowing makeup? How to create a glowing natural effect on your skin? I share you some tips and products I am currently using. Hope you find good tips!

1- Prep your skin before with the right skincare. If you have for example oily or combine skin do not apply a illuminating face primer, prefer instead a mattifying primer. Especially in summer, use a light formulation primer, without silicons and parabens. (BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector or Too Faced Hangover replenishing face primer )

2- Do not copy or buy all kind of makeup products. Choose products with textures and colours that suit with your skin type. Again, if your skin tends to be oily, prefer powdery highlighters and bronzers. Moreover set your makeup with a slightly touch of face powder only on those areas. If you have normal or dry skin prefer creamy and moisturizing products with a light formulation. If you have big pores, choose satin finish, not very shimmering or holographic textures otherwise they will accentuated! Some of my favs: CHANEL Les Beiges pressed powder,  The Balm MaryLou-Manizer Highlighter,  BECCA shimmering skin perfector liquid Highlighter

3- !L E S S   I S   M O R E! (probably the most important tip) Especially in summer do not apply many layers of products! You notice them! For this reason I always suggest to build makeup with natural light in order to see immediately the effect. Apply not too much foundation, for example, and only where you really need. If you have spots or any kind of big imperfections, cover them at the end. I always suggest to choose a light base and then to cover imperfections with a good long lasting concealer, like the Mac studio finish. Of course you have to choose the right shade and undertone of foundation. Make a test on your neck, not on your hand! Wait a bit and then look at it with natural light.
Prefer a damp sponge (I like the Beauty Blender sponge) for applying foundation instead of a thick hair brush.

4- Do not use too much highlighter and too orange, dark or to shimmering bronzers. This is also very important for a natural glowing makeup. Choose the right shade of highlighter: if you have cool undertone prefer rosy tones. If you are more into neutral, yellow shades or tanned, prefer a champagne with gold undertone. I personally do not like holographic products because they look too wired and kitsch. About bronzers… another big theme… For having a natural sun-kissed look, prefer a satin or matte bronzer, not too dark and with a warm tone. Apply it very slightly where you know you naturally tan. I always suggest a satin or matte bronzer because they are more natural, especially if you also use highlighter. So not too much shimmer on your face!
For the contouring, use a matte texture with cool tones (not too grey!! I see some wrong colours around me….) and not exaggerate when you shape your face, remember, less is more!
My fav bronzers for contouring: Benefit Hoola pressed bronzer, The Balm Bahama Mama pressed bronzer

5- Smudge very well all products!! Don’t put them like a bricklayer with his mortar!! Ahaha, I am sorry but it is so!

6- Prefer natural, light colours and textures for lipsticks. They give more focus on skin and eyes. Moreover prefer glossy or creamy textures instead of matte and velvet.  (Another big trend but I see it more suitable in colder seasons.)

I also share you products I currently use on me for my very natural glowing makeup. They work pretty well and are perfect for my normal to dry skin sometimes. So keep them in mind if you also have my type of skin or, at least, prefer a mattifying primer and a good setting powder to fix your makeup. I do not use setting powder, for example. It is to much on me. I prefer a setting spray or a thermal water.  If I have imperfections, over a long lasting concealer, in this case I put a bit of setting powder to fix it very well.

Products I used:
Illuminating Primer: BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector® Liquid Highlighter
Sheer foundation: Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder foundation
Highlighting & Bronzing: HOURGLASS illume sheer color trio
Setting spray: Mac Prep + prime Fix+
Lips: Mac Myth satin lipstick
