I love nude lipsticks. More nude and matter they are, the more I like them. I think that a nude lipstick is a complement to the makeup, that emphasizes base & eyes makeup and that it is simply to put on and wear. So I think we should all have the perfect nude lipstick in our beauty case! I want the focus on my eyes makeup, intense or delicate for everyday, it is the same. I also don’t really like my mouth and my teeth in general and for this reason I want to take away the attention.
I show you in this blog post my top nude lipsticks. I have many more but these are my super favourite.
I tried to do the swatches directly on my lips with the most neutral light possible but in any case my advice is always to try any lipsticks, especially the nude ones, because they are very subjective and look more or less good, depending on your skin tone and lips skin texture.
From top to left: my natural lips, MegaLast “Just Peach” by Wet & Wild, “Pure Hollywood” by Anastasia Beverly Hills. Second row: “Corset” Lingerie by NYX Cosmetics, “Honey Love” by Mac Cosmetics, “Yash” by Mac Cosmetics. Third row: “A girl gots needs” by Mac Cosmetics, MegaLast “Bare it all” by Wet & Wild, “Fuel” by Urban Decay.
A fairly universal colour among all those I have is, in my opinion, Honey Love by Mac Cosmetics: a true nude, slightly rose, not too cold, not too warm, a kind of “my better lips colour” on me. Although it is a matt formula, it is also soft and comfortable on the lips. “Yash” or “A girl got needs”, both matt formula by Mac cosmetics are much harder and drier, certainly less comfortable. Another reason to try them before buying, it is to test their comfort.
One important thing with matt and nude lipsticks is to always have lips well hydrated and do a scrub first, because they tend to highlight imperfections. The clearest shown here, the MegaLast “Just Peach”by Wet & Wild is definitely the most difficult to wear. As you can see, my lips are not very hydrated in this moment and it tends to emphasizes it! Very comfortable instead is the MegaLast “Bare it all” always by Wet & Wild.
Some liquid lipstick formulations are drier (Anastasia Beverly Hills), others are smoother and softer (NYX Lingerie de Peaux) while maintaining longevity. Between the two, I hardly recommend the NYX lingerie for the comfort and for the price. In the past I tried also Kat von D’s liquids lipstick but I didn’t like them: they are not really long-lasting and they crumbled on me and leaving in a no-uniform way, like the NYX.
