A day in Ulm. Ulm is a small German town in the federal region of Baden-Württemberg. Not far from Munich, it could be in my opinion the ideal destination also for a daily trip from the Bavarian capital.
I had the pleasure to visit Ulm, even if briefly, in the middle of July but I must say that I liked it so much and that I would like to go back soon! I was invited to the opening of the Leonardo Royal Hotel Ulm, a rather comfortable business hotel in a strategic position, near the historic center and with a wonderful roof top to the city center. I strongly recommend it to you, especially for their huge and quality breakfast (something not so obvious in Germany, at least for what is my experience!)
Hard facts about Ulm:
- Ulm is known for having the church with the tallest steeple in the world (161.53 m)
- Do you know that the city was the birthplace of Albert Einstein?
The following highlights don’t really have to miss them :
- The medieval fishing quarter with many restaurants and boutiques. Stroll and lost yourself in these pretty little streets!
- The Rathaus, the Ulm City Hall with its astronomical clock.
- The Ulm Minster, the cathedral (built 1377–1891), with the highest church tower in the world.
- The Stadthaus, a house for public events, built by Richard Meier, directly adjacent to the minster. When I saw it was like a kinda fan moment (Richard Meier is one of my favourite Architect and source of inspiration for me)
